Major Civil Project – Roads

As a result of securing a number of projects, our client is currently looking to recruit a Civil Engineer to the position of QS (quantity surveyor) to manage a number of civil roads projects across a number of locations in Australia.
Our client project capabilities range from $50,000 special works to $500 million plus schemes.
Our client project portfolio covers the entire range of construction activities including offices and manufacturing facilities, hotels and railway depots and much more. With customers in both the private and public sector, our projects are all round us from schools, universities and hospitals to retail and aviation environments.


For this role, you will have:

•       +7 years’ experience in the civil sector, predominantly motorways, roads, and bridges;
•       Related qualification in Civil Engineering;
•       Experience pricing large projects;
•       Client facing experience;
•       Conceptual estimating;
•       Budget and deadline management;
•       Estimating;
•       Cost and planning management;
•       Experience in MS office, Excel, etc.

In return, you will be working on large civil projects based in Perth. You will gain management experience across a number of civil disciplines. You will have an opportunity to fast track your career to Intermediate Management levels. This is a 5-year project plan.


Main purpose of a Quantity Surveyor:

 • Maintain commercial information to the contract, satisfying the needs of both the customer and our company in terms of reporting contract commercial performance;
• Technical experience, skills and attributes required of a Degree in Civil Engineering (or other commercially related discipline);
• Appropriate membership in Portuguese national order;
• Able to demonstrate a good knowledge of monthly reporting;
• Practical knowledge of forms of contract FIDIC or similar;
• Understanding of period cost reporting and comparison with budget/forecast;
• Experience in commercial management of subcontractors, including chairing regular meetings, measurement and control cycle, certificates, accrual calculations and value allocation;
• Knowledge of the procurement of subcontractors;
• Able to manage and effectively monitor subcontractors with little supervision;
• Knowledge of effective cost allocation management;
