Get ready to get your hands dirty! We’re looking for an awesome “work hard, play hard” Marketing Intern that digs and breathes the world of startups & tech and wants to get real work experience.
At Beta-i, we help startups succeed. One of our key initiatives is Lisbon Challenge (www.lisbon-challenge.com), the most challenging and international accelerator in Europe. The next batch of 30 startups (most of them international) are getting here on Sept 26, and will be doing our program until Dec 19. This would be a great opportunity for you to talk with people from all over the world, get to know the next trends and understand what makes people leave the security of their jobs and start a business (besides understanding what major obstacles they face). It’s a very international working environment, with 200 mentors (including pros from Microsoft, Google, Paypal, Amazon, etc, along serial entrepreneurs) from all over the world. Plus, we work with the top European accelerators through Atalanta,
We also have other initiatives, mainly at the European level. Stuff that we’ve done in the past includes Silicon Valley Comes to Lisbon, Explorers Festival, Sandbox Lisbon, Founders Institute, Pirate Summit in Lisbon, Pioneers @ Lisbon, Mini Seedcamp Lisbon, and many, many others (just in 2014, we’ve organized 227 initiatives so far). We also organized the very first TEDx in Portugal. Actually, we just got nominated in June as the Greatest Startup & Entrepreneurship Promoter in Portugal by the European Enterprise Promotion Awards.
We have a wicked sense of humor and are really laid-back. And we party hard. But we are goal-chasers, doers – and we hate people who slack off. I guess we have that type of culture that you either love it or you hate it.
Like what you’re reading so far? Here’s what we’re looking for:
· Fluent in English (it’s a must) – written and spoken. You don’t need to be fluent in Portuguese
· No experience needed
· Available to work up to 20h/week (ideally full-time)
· Digs the tech world. You read tech crunch, venture beat, and similar websites
· Must have a Facebook + twitter + Linkedin accounts and be comfortable on those networks
· You’re really proactive (we mean it. We don’t have the time to chase you down)
· You DON’T say “yes” just because – you’re curious and like to understand the big picture
You’ll be helping out on several projects, including writing for our newsletter, managing our social media channels, doing blog posts, tweaking the content on our website, and other things. You can also draft your own job description – just keep in mind that there are some stuff that you’ll need to do anyway (you won’t be serving coffee or Xeroxing, no worries!). It’s an unpaid internship (we cover transportation + lunch), but I call tell you that most of the team (90%) started out as volunteers.
If this sounds like you, send over you CV to sofia.curado@beta-i.pt and answer the following questions on your email:
1. Describe yourself in 140 characters.
2. What are you looking for from a marketing internship?
3. What do you want to learn at Beta-i?
4. Why should we choose you and not someone else?
5. Any feedback/cool ideas for our marketing team?
6. What’s your Linkedin profile (public URL)? And your twitter handle?
7. When can you start?
Please don’t apply if you don’t answer all of these questions or if your CV & answers are not in English.
